Joel is a International Contemporary Jazz recording artist with an award winning debut CD release entitled Epiphany. His second CD Cayman Moon was reviewed by Kenny Cortes of Denver’s Smooth Jazz 104.3 commenting “it’s as good as anything I have ever played!” Joel’s single Riding High was voted “Best Smooth Jazz song of 2011” by SmoothGrooves.com. His latest single “On the Line/Wichita Lineman” released Nov. 1st 2018 was on the Top 100 Charts of Smooth Jazz Network for 14 weeks. It captures the feel of what today’s lineman’s song might sound like as the city of Wichita grows out to that telephone pole originally sung about ! All are receiving national airplay.
Joel has performed at The Genuine Jazz Wine Festival/Copper Mountain featuring Ronnie Laws, Alex Bugnon, Paul Taylor, Nick Collione, and Stanley Jordan. He has also opened for Alex Bugnon at the Soiled Dove, performed at Cherry Creek Arts Festival, and Peoples Fair. Joel worked for Royal Caribbean aboard the ship “The Monarch of the Sea’s” out of Los Angeles and is a member of the Club Med Guest Artist program. He performs regularly at various locations across the United States. Three of Joel’s original songs have been included on the compilation CD’s Smooth Jazz 104.3 Volumes 5, 6, and 7 and Holiday At The Beach..
Joel is available to perform with his 5 piece band Cayman Moon as well as performing as front man with Vernon Barbary and Pocket and is also available for solo live to track performances.
Joel Rodney Siemion grew up in Pleasantville New York and graduated from Pleaantville High School. He attended Simpson College 1972-74 and graduated from The University of Iowa in 1978. He work for IBM from 1978-1989 as Customer Engineer, Program Support Representative and Television Producer/Director in the Corporate Satellite Network. September 1989 Joel resigned from IBM, left New York and moved to Colorado. He worked with the Betty Rocker band through November 1990 as sound and lights technician also playing rhythm guitar and keyboards. From 1991-1993 Joel was disc jockey at the radio stations 102.7 KIKX and The MAXX in Colorado Springs. During this time, Joel began studying music with Jazz Master Dale Bruning. In 1993 Joel moved to Vail Colorado where he worked in television as Producer/Director at the Vail Ski Resort owned KVBA TV8 directing Good Morning Vail. In 1995 he was hired as Newscast Director at KWGN Channel 2 (the Denver WB affiliate) directing the 9:00 news and producing commercials, working there through 2001. He also worked at the same time as a disc jockey at Denver’s Smooth Jazz CD104.3 from 2000-2001. Joel resumed his studies with Dale Bruning with a new intensity in 1995. In 2003 he launched on the career of his hearts desire as Smooth Jazz guitarist and song writer with the release of his debut CD Epiphany. Joel then worked for Royal Caribbean in 2005 aboard The Monarch of the Seas’s. As a result of his experiences on the cruise ship, he was inspired to write and record his follow up CD release Cayman Moon in 2007. Joel continued to work in video and became the Video Coordinator at Mile Hi Church of Religious Science from 2008-2011. The release of his single Riding High, voted Best Smooth Jazz song of 2011 by SmoothGrooves.com, has Joel in the studio again. We’re all looking forward to the next CD release!
